Best Practices for Weighing

Timing

Weigh yourself at the same time each day for consistency:

  • Morning is best - After using the bathroom, before eating
  • Same conditions - Similar clothing (or none)
  • Same scale - Different scales can vary

Frequency

Choose what works for you:

FrequencyProsCons
DailyMore data, spot trends quicklyDaily fluctuations can be discouraging
WeeklyLess noise, clearer trendsMight miss some patterns
Protocol daysTies weight to dose cycleFewer data points

Weekly Weighing

Many people find weighing on their injection day works well. It creates a consistent weekly rhythm.

Understanding Your Weight Data

Normal Fluctuations

Your weight can vary 2-5 pounds day-to-day based on:

  • Water retention
  • Food in your digestive system
  • Sodium intake
  • Hormonal changes
  • Time of day

Don't panic over daily changes. Focus on the overall trend.

Reading Your Chart

In the Progress tab, your weight chart shows:

  • Individual points - Each logged weight
  • Trend line - Smoothed average
  • Starting point - Your first logged weight
  • Goal (if set) - Your target weight

What to Expect

With GLP-1 medications, typical patterns include:

  • Weeks 1-4: May see little change at starter dose
  • After dose increases: More noticeable changes
  • Plateau periods: Normal, even with consistent medication
  • Non-linear progress: Weight loss isn't always steady

Setting a Weight Goal

  1. Go to ProgressGoals
  2. Tap Set Weight Goal
  3. Enter your target weight
  4. Save

Your goal appears on the weight chart as a reference line.

Healthy Goals

Set realistic, healthy goals. Consult your healthcare provider about appropriate target weights.

Weight and Your Protocol

GLPea can show you how weight changes relate to your medication:

  • View weight alongside dose history
  • See if dose increases correlate with more weight loss
  • Identify patterns in your response to medication

This information is valuable for discussions with your healthcare provider.

Exporting Weight Data
