Notification Issues
Not getting reminders? Getting too many? Here's how to fix notification problems in GLPea.
Notifications Not Working
Check GLPea Settings
- Open GLPea
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Ensure Dose Reminders is ON
- Verify reminder time is correct
Check iOS Settings
- Open iPhone Settings
- Scroll to Notifications
- Find GLPea
- Ensure settings are correct:
| Setting | Should Be |
|---|---|
| Allow Notifications | ON |
| Alerts | ON (Banner or Alert) |
| Sounds | ON (if you want sound) |
| Badges | Optional |
| Show on Lock Screen | ON (recommended) |
Check Focus Mode
If using Focus mode (Do Not Disturb, Work, etc.):
- iPhone Settings → Focus
- Select your active Focus mode
- Go to Apps → Add Apps
- Add GLPea to allowed apps
Check Scheduled Summary
If you use Notification Summary:
- iPhone Settings → Notifications → Scheduled Summary
- Either turn off for GLPea, or
- Accept that GLPea notifications arrive at summary time
Wrong Notification Time
Adjust in GLPea
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Tap Reminder Time
- Set your preferred time
- Save
Time Zone Issues
If reminders come at wrong times:
- Check your iPhone's time zone: Settings → General → Date & Time
- Ensure Set Automatically is ON
- Restart the app after fixing time zone
Too Many Notifications
Reduce Notification Types
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Disable optional notifications:
- Day-before reminders
- Follow-up reminders
- Achievement notifications
Keep Only What You Need
Most users only need the main injection day reminder. Disable others if they feel excessive.
Specific Notification Issues
Day-Before Reminder Not Coming
- Check it's enabled: Settings → Notifications → Day Before
- Verify your injection day is correct in protocol
- Reminder comes the evening before (usually 6-8 PM)
Follow-Up Reminder Not Working
Follow-up reminders only send if:
- You haven't logged a dose yet that day
- Your main reminder time has passed
- Follow-up is enabled in settings
Reminders Stopped After Logging
This is expected behavior—once you log your dose, reminders for that cycle stop. They'll resume next week.
Apple Watch Notifications
Not Getting Watch Notifications
- Watch mirrors iPhone notification settings
- Check: Watch app → Notifications → GLPea
- Ensure "Mirror iPhone" or custom settings allow GLPea
Getting Phone and Watch Notifications
This is normal—notification appears on whichever device you're likely to see:
- If iPhone is active: iPhone gets it
- If Watch is on wrist: Watch gets it
- Both may show if neither is "active"
Notification Sounds
No Sound
- Check iPhone isn't on Silent (flip the switch)
- Verify volume is up
- Check Settings → Notifications → GLPea → Sounds is ON
Wrong Sound
GLPea uses the default notification sound. To change:
- Go to Settings → Notifications → GLPea
- This option may be limited by iOS
Troubleshooting Steps
Reset Notifications
If nothing else works, reset GLPea's notification setup:
- Go to GLPea Settings → Notifications
- Toggle all notifications OFF
- Force close the app
- Reopen GLPea
- Turn notifications back ON
- Confirm permissions if prompted
Check System Notifications
Verify iOS notifications work at all:
- Send yourself a text or email
- If no notification appears, it's a system issue
- Check Settings → Notifications → Show Previews
Nuclear Option
If still broken:
- Delete GLPea
- Restart iPhone
- Reinstall GLPea from App Store
- Enable notifications when prompted
- Configure in Settings
Common Misconceptions
"I Should Get Daily Reminders"
GLPea is for weekly injections. You only get reminders when a dose is due, not daily.
"Reminders Should Repeat All Day"
The default is one reminder at your set time. Enable follow-up reminders if you want additional nudges.
"I Need Notifications to Log"
You can log a dose anytime, with or without receiving a notification. Notifications are just reminders.
Still Not Working?
If you've tried everything and notifications still don't work:
- Note your iOS version
- Note your GLPea version
- Describe what happens (or doesn't)
